Yahoo today confirmed what AllThingsD has been reporting for some time: Former AOL ad boss Ned Brody will be its new Americas chief, responsible for all ad sales in North and South America. As SVP of Americas, Brody will report to Yahoo COO Henrique De Castro.

Brody resigned from AOL in April , but was caught in limbo due to an 18-month non-compete agreement, which AOL CEO Tim Armstrong did not originally agree to let him out of.

Kara Swisher reported last month that AOL and Yahoo had come to an agreement over the hiring of Brody, with Yahoo providing some sweeteners to appease AOL.

“In the past, in such inter-company talent conflicts, that has included things like offering some additional ad inventory or better terms for existing agreements. Yahoo and AOL have a number of current ad-related agreements,” Swisher reported at the time.

At AOL, Brody most recently ran the AOL Networks group – AOL’s portfolio of data-centric advertising products and business lines – where he was known more as someone who enjoyed diving deep into the details of automated advertising systems much more than he did glad-handing ad execs on Madison Avenue. That will be a stark contrast from the last person who helmed this role at Yahoo, Ross Levinsohn, who, while capable of talking you through the inner workings of the ad ecosystem, never seemed to mind the relationship building with advertisers and ad agencies that the ad world came to expect of that role.
